1807

Daniel Thwaites becomes partner in Eanam Brewery, Blackburn

1824

Eanam Brewery becomes the sole property of Daniel Thwaites.

1925

Thwaites starts to bottle its beer.

1966

Brewery expands at a cost of £1.5m.

1980

Shire Inns founded with The Millstone at Mellor (charging £11 a night)

1984

Cottons Hotel in Knutsford acquired and the hotels division begins under the name “Shire”.

2011

Thwaites Inns of Character division established.

2015

Thwaites sells Beer Co free trade accounts, and Wainwright and Bomber, to Martson’s

2018

Thwaites will move its brewery, stables, head office and heritage centre to Mellor Brook.

Thwaites had the same values in their family business, that we wanted for our own pub business.

Thwaites have been supportive from the start, the whole team including Andrew, our ABM and all the support team. They’ve invested in the pub and we were involved in the designs and planning throughout. We’re proud to be part of the pub and the community it serves.
